They might already have static IPs, they did at one point.

If not then log in to the WRT54GL and assign static IPs for their MAC addresses.

The Forest Artist Facilities working group is meeting on Wednesday at 7pm again, would be good if one of us could go along and report on where things stand with the darkroom. Lucea, are you around then?

Darkroom is up and running - now for medium format too!

Hey all,

Just a quick note to say that the darkroom is fully operational again now, and we also have a second enlarger running for printing from 6x6cm medium format negatives!

If you want to use the room just post in this thread, or email darkroom@theforest.org.uk.

Re: Darkroom cleared up - work still to do - door won't shut!

Great stuff! I think the slot on the M370 BW enlarger is probably to slot a filter holder into, but we've never had the right bit to go in there and Fergus was just using it with a bit of tape over the hole. As to the mark in the lens on the Leitz, that's a great shame as it always used to work fine...

There is one safelight still working - the round one at the far end of the room - on which about half the area of the filter is taped up because the filter material is cracked. So one could just about print now, but it would be sensible to sort out both safelights with new filter material - and the ...

Darkroom cleared up - work still to do - door won't shut!

Hi all, Lucea and I met up this afternoon and gave the darkroom a thorough clearing up. Everything should be ready to start running again except for one little problem - the door doesn't shut. It's not actually that loud. It might sound loud when the building's quiet, but on Thursday with no other music playing it was barely audible from the hall bar, over the conversations going on. It needs to be miked up for the performance.

As to the rest; there isn't any protocol I'm aware of yet for photo sharing. This is something that's really lacking. It's easy enough to host the image files themselves, but some standard HTTP-based interface that let you get metadata, and versions of the image at different sizes, would be awesome.

The thing about everyone hosting their photos on their own sites is that, say you self-host 50 photos and we make a gallery on the forest site with 50 links to them, then you move the photos or take them down, or your site goes offline, or you replace the photos with porn that has the same filename...

An awful lot of calendar stuff - not just programs but also formats - is designed so that it can be synced properly onto a Palm, because if your calendar product didn't sync to a Palm then it used to be useless.
