That suggests it hasn't actually found it then. Looking around, it sounds like Sweex cards use the ISL3886 chip for which it seems there isn't actually a finished Linux driver. There is a hack to use the Windows driver in Linux, but it's a bit fiddly to set up: http://patrick.vande-walle.eu/software...

The Image Fulgurator
This guy runs an optical slave flash through an SLR backwards, to project images into other people's photographs at exactly the moment they take them:

I don't think it's ever going to be possible to run Premiere acceptably under Linux. It will load in a virtual machine (VMWare) but I expect video performance would be poor because it's not going to be accessing the video card directly. Give Cinelerra a try - read the tutorials etc as it might work ...

Camera missing after photography workshop - FOUND now!
Has anyone seen my camera? I lent it for use in the photography workshop Meghan ran last month. Meghan thought Xabina had it but that was actually a different one. Mine is a Minolta X-700 that once looked like this picture, but it's missing the front panel that says MINOLTA, so you can see some wire...

Greg from Dorkbot had volunteered to get a distro running on the WRT54GL router that has been gathering dust in the action room, but he wasn't going to replace the existing router yet. Maybe he's set it up and left it running, giving a new "forest" network that has a password on. If you see a box lo...

On oak there were some filesystem errors, sufficient that the system wouldn't mount the root filesystem. Booted from a CD, fscked it, and then it was fine. On willow there were I/O errors. I opened it up to look at the cable which seemed to be well attached at both ends. I took it off and reattached...

Warning - our printer has a watermark
This may be of concern to some users of our printer. Like many color printers, ours prints a hidden watermark with the time, date and serial number of the printer. This watermarking system was developed to help trace counterfeiters, but the encoding has now become public knowledge, which means that ...

Would need to make sure we can actually secure the desktop machines effectively with that. Laptops have a standard slot to take a security cable like that, I don't think these cases do. The cases came with little metal clips that you can put through a slot on the back and put a padlock through, but ...

I'm confused now, looking back through old threads for projector stuff.
This thread suggests we bought a new projector in July '07:

How much was the bulb, is that the only purchase? The way the budgets were worked out was thinking through everything that needed to be bought in a typical year. I don't recall projector bulbs featuring in the discussion so this might be considered an oversight. Then again, we shouldn't need to buy ...

Remote storage in user accounts on the server is the only thing we need I think. For client machines it's easiest if they all just log in as forest. I don't think people will want to log out and log in all the time, it just creates more ways to set things wrong. Also this means we can use stock ubun...

The ADSL is playing up, it connects okay but then stops working shortly after. I don't know if the problem is with our modem, or some issue with the phone line here, or if it's a problem at the other end. That modem has been rock-solid since I bought it and everything was working fine a few days ago...

Thoughts: Purpose-built CCTV systems will be expensive, and designed for always-on and record-everything, probably hard to adapt to what we want. Also frankly the quality is shit and this is continuously reflected in court cases where they're not up to scratch as evidence. I think we're best off wit...
