Damn. Looks like anyone can post stuff on the page. Fifth columnists no doubty. Glad that Jarvis Cocker got his chum Neil Young to support the Forest though. Just the celebrity endorsement we need now. Maybe we could post some libelous filth that will get our account deleted, which might be more fun...

Yes, we could do with a newsletter of some kind. With CIA Nights waiting until they have enough good stuff for issue 100, there is a big newsletter shaped vacuum in the Forest. Maybe the tabletop thing will take on a life of its own. The Forest did have a myspace account, but we dropped it round abo...

There is a PYO farm on the way to Dan's farm (near to Butterfly World). We could have a nice day out and get some cheap fruit for Chris' smoothies. You need to get there early in the morning. I'll phone them in the next few weeks to find out when the strawberries and whatever else is going to be rip...

Twice in 2 days I've had to tell idiots that they in fact shouldn't eat their own food in the cafe. Is it really that difficult? Maybe it is for some people. So, to clear it up once and for all, I propose this poster. Feel free to modify/criticise/big up. I've uploaded the Inkscape SVG and JPEG in a...

For future reference, there is a site which generates pictures of tapes with your text on them. I'm doing it the old fashioned way, with Gimp and OOo.

List Eating & Drinking Guide 2007 review
Here is the List review to save y'all from splashing out on it. As bland identikit bars and bistros proliferate around the capital, it's a comfort to know that there are still a few scruffy independent and idiosyncratic hang-outs like The Forest left in town. A self-funded artists' collective with a...

Wikipedia distinguishes between waste vegetable oil (old chip fat), straight vegetable oil (new chip fat) and biodiesel, which is vegetable oil modified especially for replacing diesel. Most cooking oil is too viscose to be used as a direct replacement. One way to reduce the viscosity is to heat it....

I think we are having a meeting next week (Tuesday), though I won't be able to make it. Come along and discuss this, as it is an interesting topic. I'm not convinced that biodiesel/bioethanol is a good solution to declining fossil fuel supplies and CO2 levels. In one hand, biofuels are better than c...

Do we have a whole server with multiple users to ourselves, or are we one user on a server shared by other people?

There isn't much anyone can do without a password. If someone tells me the SSH password, I can probably move your files around, Ryan. By ftp thing, I guess you have some files on the Forest server which are outside the web directory, and you want them put somewhere visible to the web. I've never use...

I've never known the password/s. I think Duncan might have changed it - he was saying he should. We shouldn't use FTP, and it should be deactivated. FTP, like telnet, sends passwords unencrypted, so is a major security risk. I don't know if this is how the scumbags hacked the site (they could have r...

Maybe we could take the whopping profit from the long awaited Golden Shour publication and plough it back into a new colour photocopier. The new sound proofing works about as well as the old sound proofing, to my ears. If lots of people want to get down to the Cave, one person could pop through the cafe, open the back door and let everyone and their equipment in through there. I was planning to go and see El Topo (The Mole) at the Filmhouse on Friday night. Unless you splash out on the DVD, this will be a once in a lifetime opportunity to see this film. The great sliced/grated carrot debate (not so important)
Looks like Alex can't take his sliced carrot and has to have it grated, so he can suck it up with a straw. Perhaps some people cut their carrots too thickly, but I can't believe that grated carrot is better than thinly (max 1 pound coin thickness) sliced carrot. Grated carrot leaks all the moisture ...

There is a place in Edinburgh ( Pegasus ), that offers a karaoke hire package for 50 quid. You get a karaoke disc player, disks, 2 mics and the appropriate cables. Are we getting more cling film or has it been phased out? A less plasticy solution would be good, but I doubt if using tin foil instead is better/cheaper.
Just wondering.
