Okay.... so this theatre group who seem pretty nice want to do a play in the forest in the cafe area. 2 people, site specific, and - apparently - they encourage people to drink durring the performance and buy beers etc.

now - they want 2 weeks (12 days) ... which I was going to give them at the following times:

2nd week:
tue - sun 4 - 6
3rd week:
tue - sun 6 -8

I figured nothing much is happening, usually at these times and the earlier time was convienent for us and the later time was a bit better for them: a comprimise.

HOWEVER: now they say the CANNOT do the earlier time, they still want 12 days. Here are the options:

1) 12 days 6 - 8. Simple. Bands etc. can start at 9 at the latest.
2) 6 days 6-8 / 6 days 7.30 - 9.30
3) you get one week or nothing

They seem like good people. They say they WILL help the forest Upstairs and Down. They are our people and seem to share our ethos. And, from what I am told, the play is actually quite good.

I am leaning towards 12 days 6-8 and see what happens.
Objections? On what grounds?
ryan

So: now we have this from the Lime Tree Folks.

Thoughts please:

Hi Ryan,
We're going to hold a raffle to raise money for our show. We'll sell
some tickets online, hopefully, but can you tell me if we can sell some
on the night in the Forest please?
Also, there's a free piano being offered on Facebook if you're
interested; supposedly in good nick but needs a tune. Apart from that I
haven't come across anything useful to you yet, but I'll keep my eyes
peeled.
One more thing; we're currently seeking business sponsorship and this
may entail mentioning our sponsor at the end of our show, who may well
be another bar. We will of course, mention whatever is going on for the
rest of the evening in the Forest as well, but I just wanted to give
you the heads up on this.
Hope the organization's not proving too hard,
Mim

Getting quite problematic, me thinks. I have less of a problem with a raffle than I do mentioning sponsors...though I'm not sure how it fits with our aims/constitution.

Has this been resolved? I really don't like the idea of some nasty bar/etc being mentioned. I'd much rather give 'em a raffle.

Hi,
I'm Mim from Escape Artist, I'm co-Producing This Lime Tree Bower. To save Ryan some trouble, I'll be using the forum myself to ask about anything from now on. I'm also letting Ellie (Director) and Becs (co-Producer) use this login, but we'll each sign our names when we post so you know who you're hearing from.

I chatted to Ryan last night, so the issue has been talked over and I totally get where you're coming from. We've agreed to take it case-by-case, and I'll ask on here to see how you feel about anything we do get offered. He also was not keen on the raffle atmosphere, but thinks that we could perhaps hold a raffle on just one of the nights. For now, nothing has been finalised, and we're looking into other ways to raise money.

Ryan was very keen that we sell things, as this is ok by the Forest. I had a brainwave last night that me, Becs and Ellie could hold a silent auction of all sorts of things we/people we know need rid of, and this could be done online and continued in the Forest on the nights of performance. For smaller items, we could also do just a general jumble sale (I saw this done before, on a weekend, for a theatre show, and it raised about £400 I believe.)
I'm waiting to see how Becs and Ellie feel about this, but in the meantime I was wondering if it would be ok to keep the stuff at the Forest.
I understand that lots of people dump stuff there, and you might not want any more!! If you think it might be better, I could ask Settlement for permission to keep it in the room beside the hall upstairs, but do you know if this will be used during the Fringe?

Mim
