I'm off

Post by swithun » Mon Jun 18, 2007 8:29 pm

I'll be away for the next 2 Mondays. We don't have anything chosen yet for after next week. If there is any choosing being done in my absence, I would like to bring these films to the front of your minds:

Closely Observed Trains
Classy classic Czech cinema

Kanal/Ashes and Diamonds (Wajda)
Kanal shows the driving underground of the resistance in more ways than one.
Ashes and Diamonds has the Polish James Dean - even cooler and killed in a train accident.

The Roundup (Szegénylegények) (Jansco)
About a failed uprising against the Austrians in 1848. Quality Hungarian brutality.

Will come up with something. Was thinking of the Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner.

Is the sound working on the PA ? Having to fuck about getting the sound working every time is the main thing that puts me off doing film night.
I love the bomb.

I got the sound working through the PA last night for the first time in ages. I was about to give up, but then noticed that the gain was right down on the channel the DVD/VCR were using.

The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner could be teamed up with The Goalkeeper's Fear of the Penalty. A couple of sporty criminals think about their crimes.
