Forest Working Groups
Meeting Schedule 2007-2008

Pick up a copy of the schedule at the counter


Cafe & Events Working Group:
This group plans and promotes events and film screenings in and outside the cafe. Those wanting to work in events promotions, sound engineering, and poster making are encouraged to attend. This group is also a forum for all aspects of volunteering including general problems with The Forest including fixing, building and maintaining the overall space by repairing equipment, technology and broken things. Volunteer morale and retention, kitchen issues and health and safety are also key issues.
First Tuesday of the month, 7pm.

2007: 4th September, 2nd October, 6th November, 4th December
2008: 8th January, 5th February, 4th March, 1st April, 6th May, 3rd June, 1st July, 5th August, 2nd September, 7th October, 4th November, 2nd December


Action Working Group:
This group plans community actions, organizes free workshops, plans dramatic performances, works to protect the environment, and tends to the garden. Those interested in “stirring the soup”, sharing skills, writing, or performance are encouraged to attend.
Second Sunday of the month, 4pm.

2007: 9th September, 14th October, 11th November, 9th December
2008: 13th January, 10th February, 9th March, 13th April, 11th May, 8th June, 13th July, 10th August, 14th September, 12th October, 9th November, 14th December


Behind the Scenes Working Group:
This group keeps us in business, does the bulk of administrative tasks, doles out the monthly grants, plans projects, helps local artists sell things in our shop and maintains the madness of our website. People with great organisational skill who want to learn more about the business of running a thriving community arts project and flagship non-profit social enterprise are strongly encouraged to attend.
Third Wednesday of the month, 7pm.

2007: 19th September, 17th October, 21st November, 19th December
2008: 16th January, 20th February, 19th March, 16th April, 21st May, 18th June, 16th July, 20th August, 17th September, 15th October, 19th November, 17th December


Visual Arts Working Group:
This group constantly changes the face of the Forest by curating the visual arts gallery (Total Kunst), seeking artists to paint murals and maintaining the aesthetics of Forest front of house down to the smallest detail from flowers to sofa covers. All artists are welcome to attend and are free to help change The Forest on a regular, never-ending cycle.
Last Thursday of the month, 7pm.

2007: 27th September, 25th October, 29th November, 20th December
2008: 31st January, 28th February, 27th March, 24th April, 29th May, 26th June, 31st July, 28th August, 25th September, 30th October, 27th November, 18th December


Artist Facilities Working Group:
This group meets to welcome newcomers and to maintain and improve The Forest Rehearsal Studio (The Cave) and The Darkroom. This group buys new materials and equipment and repairs damages. It also creates, edits and distributes all Forest Publications, and Forest Records and looks after the swap Library.
Second Tuesday of the month, 7pm.

2007: 11th September, 9th October, 13th November, 11th December
2008: 8th January, 12th February, 11th March, 8th April, 13th May, 10th June, 8th July, 12th August, 9th September, 14th October, 11th November, 9th December

We moved the cafe and events wg meeting from 1st Jan '08 to 8th Jan...just because, you know. Also christmas day 2008 is spared the VA WG meeting - it's been moved to 18th Dec...so now you know. Happy Christmas 2008!

Is this schedule still accurate? The Action WG seems to be meeting later on Sundays now.

the cafe & events wg in october is on the second wednesday rather than the first? intentional or accidental?

The poster james has posted above shows the next BTS meeting as 13th Nov but that is the second Thursday in Nov. The Website shows the 20th Nov which is the third Thursday.


I assume the 20th is correct?
