Painting and Music Workshop on Saturday 30th May 2009

Postby Lynne » Thu May 14, 2009 8:35 pm

Hi all,

We have 2 great events lined up this month: the Painting Music Workshop on Saturday 30th May and an introduction and discussion with the 'Painting Music' collective the night before. The workshop will be free and we will provide some art materials, but please bring your preferred paints/papers/canvases/panels as well as your instruments!

Please let us know by replying to this email if you'd like ot attend the workshop so we have an idea of numbers.

**Painting Music Discussion**
Date & Time: Friday 29th May from 8.30 pm
Venue: The Bowery (2 Roxburgh place)

Established in 2006, Painting Music is a collaborative group bringing together some of London's finest classical musicians and artistic talent. The unique combination of live art and live music, performed in concert, allows our audience to see our artist's interpretation of the music as it is played. They have performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for the past 2 years.

We will be hosting an exciting discussion on the 29th May with our guests from Painting Music (http://www.paintingmusic.co.uk) who will be very generously giving us a workshop on the afternoon of Sat 30th May, in the Forest hall.

First the Painting music group will describe their work, how they formed and their own experiences of working in the area. Then the discussion will be opened up to the floor for everyone's ideas and maybe even work up some ideas for the workshop the next day... It would be great to see everyone at both events so we can make the most of the workshop!

**Painting Music Workshop**
Date & Time: Saturday 30th May 1-3pm
Venue: the Forest Hall (3 Bristo Place)

In the workshop we will explore the boundaries between music and visual art. The workshop will comprise of a mixture of painting, performing, composing, introductions to musical instruments, a wide variety of music and a new way of listening. Whether you are an amateur or professional artist or someone who has not touched a paintbrush for decades, within minutes of starting our workshop, you will be creating your own unique works of art!

Please bring your own instruments, short compositions and your preferred paints/papers/canvases/panels to save being disappointed! Also if you fancy playing, let us know on the wall what you are bringing along so that composers' can get an idea of instrumentation.

We hope to see you at the workshop or discussion,

EID
