How was the free shop going last Wednesday? We used to do it on Sundays and Tove and I plan to have a big freeshop next Friday, the 18th (because of the volunteer cupboard clear-out). So maybe we could find a day when we all have time to do the freeshop together and to set it up nicely? It could be better because then the date in the weekly programme would be correct etc...

yes, me and emma were talking about this on sunday and thought a rota for cover of the free shop would be a good idea. i am happy to do it on a sunday when i am not working.
it would also be your duty maybe to sort out the cupboard and throw away the crap when you were on the rota.
we could have the rota on line on the forum , like the gallery calendar as it makes it easier for people to sign up if they can't get to the cafe regularly. it would need someone who is a moderator to change names and add them but that is easy enough!

Yes I would be up for being on the rota once a month if we think its good to have on a regular day. Maybe we could have a big free shop as Hannah suggests and everyone who is interested could come along help with that. Agree a list of jobs, make a rota, sort out the cupboard and anything else that needs done, then its all sorted.

Hannah - remember the night mgr training is on the 18th so would have to be after...

We discussed the freeshop yesterday at the cafe and events meeting and we agreed that everyone who is doing it should take care of cleaning up afterwards, making it easier for the next freeshop. So the list of tasks/rota you suggest is a good idea i think... besides i'd like to give it another try to stop people from bringing their things whenever they want, it should really be clear that the freeshop is not permanently open.
another thing we said yesterday is to keep sunday as freeshop day and when someone wants to have the freeshop another day -like scout next tuesday - she's very welcome to do it, but has to announce it and find people to help her. maybe we could have he big freeshop instead of nex friday on sunday, 20th? it would be great if some people would like to help and and if we could clean up the cupboard together afterwards.

As a minor note, my suit is in the vollie cupboard and I'm not sure if I'll be back by next Friday. I'm supposed to be, but I may be staying in Norwich a bit longer.

are the free shop people aware that the web site is advertising that it is this sunday and that it will repeat this for every sunday following , if the nature of the free shop is to be a bit ad hoc , then it would be better to disable this feature for the free shop events .

yar, as martin notes, the free shop event on the website is set to repeat for every sunday (from now until new years). if it's not going to happen some times, it would be good to change this and have an involved individual create event items for the days it is definitely happening including non-sundays as well.

Well, i think we should definitely keep the freeshop as an event that happens every sunday. and as i said before, everyone who would like to do a freeshop at another time can do it but should be aware that it might not be in the weekly programme and therefore advertise it somehow, announce it on the website etc...

i think keep the freeshop fortnightly on sundays is ok, weekly if people have the energy for it.
i am only running extra ones cos I have spare time and there's a LOT of stuff right now.
COME TOMORROW and TAKE THINGS AWAY.
if you're running a freeshop, don't be shy of chucking things out/handing them over to Shelter.
