Wet Paint - free space in Worcester

Post by Shannon » Mon Oct 20, 2008 4:39 pm

In case you find yourself in Worcester...
Hey, we're WET PAINT, we've occupied a building and are transforming it into a
billion dreams..

This is the first time we've attempted something quite like this, and we're
aiming to 'open our doors' as it were, as soon as we can, once the building is
sorted... covered in art and full of reclaimed and recycled and created things.
etc. etc.

What we are asking for now is to you guys to be aware we're here.. when we get
it together we'd like to network alot more with you guys... cos although this
is our first attempt, this has been our dream for years man!

We're also asking for anyone who can help to come and help... you may need your
own sleeping bags and duvets etc. but theres LOADS of space. We could do with
anyone artistic that wants to use the space, anyone with time/tatt to lend, but
also people who have done this sort of thing before, to give us a few pointers
while we find out feet...

We've written a sort of thing about us. Some would call it a constitution i
guess.. phone number at the bottom. If anyone can get in touch that would be
amazing. Thanks

'WET PAINT'

WORCESTER OCCUPIED SPACE ARTS COLLECTIVE

"ADDING A FRESH COAT TO THE COMMUNITY"

Our mission is to bring community and culture back in to an otherwise empty
space, with the aims of exposing as many independent disciplines as possible,
including but not exclusive to galleries, workshops, music, poetry, painting
and any other creative outlets.

We are a live-in collective who also offer cheap food, which is often salvaged,
and we aim to raise money for local charities, by holding open nights.

We are not affiliated to any political party or religious group.
we do not tolerate prejudice or discrimination of any kind.
We do not tolerate illegal drugs.

We run on a consensus-based system.

We are voluntarily giving our time, energy and resources to see this live-in
project succeed. We are non profit and will sustain ourselves and the arts
collective through free-donations by people using the space, communal cooking
and holding small events.

Through bringing culture back into a disused space, we are promoting as much
independent creativity as we can, exposing as many talents as possible, who
might otherwise not be noticed by the public by lack of affordable workshop
space.

I think you need to email them. Maybe they didn't post it as it's also a living space? Not really sure.
