I'm sorry Danny, it wasn't intended to annoy particularly, and it wasn't even aimed specifically at you. It's just a statement of my distaste for such terms being applied to music, and my genuine reaction to it.
I probably shouldn't make such sparse remarks, but, well, it's more fun than writing essays on the subject, and if it connects with one or two then it has some value. But then I would be gentler if I balanced that against those that it connects with in a negative fashion.
I think recently after being exposed to music that has been composed rather than just song written I've developed a reaction against music being so personal, supporting an almost socialist (in a wide sense) approach to music. Not that I don't like all this music, but some of the greatest work seems to draw on something that goes beyond the individual, and it will always be a personal perpective, but looking (feeling ?) rather further.
