Cultural Boycott of Israel
Cultural Boycott of Israel
Should Forest sign this as a cultural organisation?
I say yes - especially since it explicitly says that we will not engage with any artists or organisations funded directly by the government (meaning we can still work with independent israeli artists).
Please let us know what you think? ryan x

I'd say definitely. Hopefully it will encourage other Edinburgh organisations too.

Yes, I have just contacted David Greig about his welcome to the fringe kick starter saying FC+ can offer space if needed.

It is important the definition is made that the boycott it is only for productions funded by the Israeli Government but we also have to be careful as Creative Scotland constitutes Government Funding but does have its own remit independent of The Government.
Not knowing how the Israel funding structure works means productions receiving grants through funding streams with out any direct link may be boycotted just because they took funding. If you see what I mean. It's not like the Israeli Government is sending over a theatrical propaganda machine, but yes boycotting culture may make Israeli people involved in these activities reconsider the actions of their government, but I bet some already do.
