decks and dj mixer

Post by chris » Mon Jun 09, 2008 11:34 pm

i have fixed all the decks, 2 of them were busted.

however the dj mixer is totally destructioned, and needs to be replaced. i will replace this soon. until then the decks are out of action...

it might be a good idea to box it in again, as access to the back probably busted it faster..

We are trying to buy a second hand mixer... and I guess some new needles.. Pockets is on the Ebay mission..... what is the budget for this?

i have set a 50 quid limit on the mixer .. reasonable?

and I will make sure the lid/boxing is sorted for the DJ station A.S.A.P. (this was an action point I took a long time ago and am still working on, sorry)

unless your getting a good one off a friend at a great price, it is probably better to get a semi decent mixer for around £200 maximum.. (if black dog can cut us a deal i'd get it there...)

mixers have to take a lot of battering, second hand ones tend to already be battered, and cheap ones don't last long..

mixers really are in the front line, that last one we had did pretty well, around 3 years i think...

needles, stick to ortofon concords, you can buy replacement tips pretty cheap, i guess a couple of carts are also needed...

i am happy to do all this if you want it off your plate...

I don't ken what budget it comes from.. I thought Cafe and Events said "we don't have much money" or something...

Red Dog cant get one cheap...

I fully agree we need a good one..

here are some cheaps: http://www.htfr.com/mixers/

thanks.

let me ken when you got it, and i will build it in to place.

Yay!

There is money for equipment. There isn't money for events. If we spend £200 there is £138 left. This goes up to £218 at the beginning of August. Do not expect to be reimbursed without a receipt - please. Otherwise, get Ryan or someone to cut a cheque when you know the total. We need receipts...

hello hello

Not totally 'on-topic' but I've just come up for the festival and brought some records with me... I was hoping to play out a couple of places so I emailed Shannon at the 'info' address... I understand Xabina has now taken this over? I play 80's-y electro disco and deep house and a bit of techno. do you think this would be welcome at the forest?

I have my own needles/carts so I won't need to borrow any. I also write my own material which can be heard at http://www.myspace.com/csvscs I am prepping a laptop set of stuff I have made as well...

let me know what you think or email me at laurencehorstman@gmail.com

thanks!

Laurence

Half Man Half Biscuit - Deep House Victims Minibus Appeal

Said the public sector leader
At the pre-launch breakfast briefing
Get your cheque books out
I don’t want them saying this town doesn’t care anymore
So fifty sea cadets are sailing
To a place where no-one sails to
They’ll probably raise five grand
There but for the grace of Riot Grrrl go you
So give what you can

To the Deep House Victims minibus appeal
Deep House Victims minibus appeal
Deep House Victims minibus appeal tonight

See the gutsy Lady Mayoress
Steer the luge to new dimensions
Beam with local pride
Deck quoits with the French Trance Vets come one come all
At the New Romantic craft fair
Try and guess the alien’s weight sir
Twenty five pence says you can’t
And some of volleyball’s top referees
Will keep us all informed

Of the Deep House Victims minibus appeal
Deep House Victims minibus appeal
Deep House Victims minibus appeal tonight

Stripped down Italian speedcore
New wave of righteous handbag
What’s your contribution to the
Deep House Victims, Deep House Victims
Deep House Victims minibus appeal

that basically means yes it would be great to have you come play, drop by the forest and ask around and you'll get a slot sorted

So your man played out
and what do you know
the PA system is fukked
no treble coming through at all.
Cammy was around and we put a band on beforehand and he couldn't work it.
Dunno if it's just a missing cable or something but it needs ammending to.

it is fixed.

there was a problem with damaged speaker cables, and i adjusted some things (wrongly it turned out) during a powercut (foolish i know) and was unable to test it at the time. so i inadvertantly switched the top end off! its all sorted now and sounding great.

apologies,

Chris
