Dear Piano Repair Specialist

Post by nix » Sun Jun 20, 2010 1:11 pm

Hello People!

We need to fix pianos, particularly the babygrand in the hall so that it can truly fulfil its potential, rather that cluttering up the corner of the room.

I have written this letter to Email/Post out to people who might be able to help.
Dear Piano Repair Specialist,

we are a small, volunteer run organisation focused on creating and promoting art and cultural activities in Edinburgh and the wider community. (charity: SC038234)

We love pianos.

We have three in the building, all needing various levels of TLC.

The classic upright in our downstairs lobby, that has one silent key but plays fine and is out of tune.
The baby grand in our upstairs hall, that has some damage, a broken string, but when working will be a great asset to the space.
The beat up old thing in The Cave, our practice room, that probably needs put down.

Would you be interested in coming in to look at these pianos?

Just pop in any time at your convenience, 10am to 7pm and ask for me or the Kitchen Manager.

We can offer some remuneration, but as we are currently deep in works to build new toilets and renovate our buildings frontage in time for August, I fear we would not be able to afford the full fee.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope that you will be able to assist us in this pressing matter.

Yours faithfully,

Nicholas Soldan (“Nix”)

How is it? Is it accurate?

Will someone organise the mail out?

I have attached a wee list of piano repair folk out of the yellow pages.

and a .pdf of the letter.

thanks in advance for your help!

I will print this and pass it to my friend Joey, who tunes and repairs pianos. I will see him in a few hours so may even be able to get an answer today!

I send the letter out to some piano repair specialists in Edinburgh, hope we'll get an answer soon. Otherwise I will phone them and ask for help this way.

Andrew Queen, came yesterday and repaired the piano in the hallway. it is still a semi-tone flat, but it is in tune with itself! yay!
He is a lovely man and only charged £50.

he will do the Babygrand at the end of the month when it finds its final resting place.

thanks.

N.
