Possible Golden Reading at Waterstones

Postby ravanwin » Tue Apr 17, 2007 1:57 pm

This is FROM DAVID GOW, our inside man at waterstone's. It seems like, at the next meeting, we should discuss suppliers... finding them and how they work. If anyone wants to investigate, that would be great!

--------

We may have a hard time getting
a launch on at Waterstone's, although it's a good idea as it might encourage
them to stock the book- will it have an ISBN and an official supplier etc?
If not, there isn't much hope.
I know the Scottish section at the West End branch has a fair degree of
autonomy, so it might be an idea to have a word with Rhoanna, who runs that
section. (I guess the collection would be shelved under Scottish no matter
what the subject matter or nationality of the contributors because of its
Edinburgh origins).
I suppose as the collection will have many locally based contributors
there's a good chance of getting a decent crowd to a launch event. I could
try to sell it to them on that basis, because a lot of the time author
readings at the store aren't too well attended. Could you let me know who
the potential supplier of the book is? I'll need it if I'm asking about an
event.
A bit flat-out at the minute, but I've been meaning to send you a story for
the book too. Expect soon. Thanks for the offer of a reading and sorry I
can't make it.

David

As I suspected: Waterstones is to be the meeting place of forest and the mainstream...
