Food photos for instructional booklet

Post by swithun » Thu Mar 27, 2008 7:25 pm

I've put the photos I've taken of food on my Picasa account here. Alex, you said you wanted to do something with them. I wrote text a while ago, which you could use as a starter (see what I did there?). I was imagining a booklet on some elastic which people could pull down to consult and then let back up, like the microphone in a boxing ring.

Instructions

Falafel burger

Cut pitta bread in half
Toast for 1 minute 30 seconds
Put 2 falafel balls under cold water for a second
Microwave for 1 minute 30 seconds
Put green salad and salad dressing on medium plate
Put humus on plate
Put falafels on plate
Put pitta halves on top

Falafel meal

Cut pitta bread in half
Toast for 1 minute 30 seconds
Run 3 falafel balls under cold water for a second
Microwave for 1 minute 30 seconds
Put green salad, nice salad and salad dressing on medium plate
Put humus on plate
Put falafels on plate
Put pitta halves on top

Pitta and humus

Cut two pitta breads in half
Toast for 1 minute 30 seconds
Put humus in small metal bowl on smallish plate
Sprinkle paprika/cayene pepper/chilli powder on humus
Cut pitta halves in 4, so there are 16 strips
Arrange on plate round metal bowl

Tortilla chips and salsa

Put salsa in small metal bowl
Put metal bowl in middle of medium plate
Put layer of tortilla chips on plate around bowl

Burrito

Put grill on 6
Put burrito in microwave for 4 minutes
Put green salad, nice salad and salad dressing on large plate
Put salsa and cheese (or yeast flakes) on burrito and put under grill
Put on plate when cheese melted
Put sour cream (or humus) and salsa on top of burrito

Nachos

Put grill on 6
Put layer of tortilla chips on large plate (but not the largest plate)
Put blobs of refried beans, salsa and cheese on tortilla chips
Put in microwave for 1 minute
Add second layer of tortilla chips
Put salsa and the cheese on top
Put under grill until cheese metled
Put plate on larger plate (for carrying)
Put sour cream and more salsa on top

Beans on toast

Put grill on 6
Put tin of baked beans in plastic tub
Put in microwave for 3 minutes (4 if no cheese)
Toast 2 slices of bread for 1 minute 30 seconds
Put toast on large deep plate (but not largest)
Pour beans over toast
Put cheese on top
Put under grill until cheese melted
Put plate on larger plate (for carrying)

Soup

Fill soup bowl with soup
Microwave if not boiling hot
Toast slice of bread for 1 minute 30 seconds
Cut toast in half
Arrange bowl and toast on medium plate
Put blob of margerine on side of plate

Soup and salad

Fill soup bowl with soup
Microwave if not boiling hot
Toast slice of bread for 1 minute 30 seconds
Put green salad, nice salad and salad dressing on large plate
Cut toast in half
Arrange bowl and toast on plate
Put blob of margerine on side of plate

(Could maybe remove instances of 'put', ed.)

Here is a draft of the instruction booklet. The instructions aren't quite like they are on the bits of paper in the kitchen. But I've tried to simplify things a little, e.g. the times, and the order things are done in. If you know what to do and you're good, then there is no reason to follow these instructions. But if people don't know what to do, or are slow, then they could do worse than follow these instructions.

I need to add stuff on baked potatoes and the specials and get some soup photos.

Does anyone know if the printer does double sided printing as an option?

Here is a new version, with instructions on preparing salsa and burritos etc. Olivier is taking over now.
