Website duties for Everyone

Post by pogo » Sun Feb 11, 2007 5:27 pm

every part of the website is editable by anyone.

so far, Dirk, Ryan and myself are the only ones who are 'Managers' on the site.
what it means to be a 'Manager' is to have the privileges to edit and change ANY page.

if anyone else feels that they would like to be an Managers or either the whole site or of just a Section or Page, reply to this post.
say "i'd like to be an Editor for ... the 'About Us' section or the 'Cafe' section or the 'Whole Site'

thanks for your help
** - Managers must promise to use FIREFOX

there is a 'Manager Login' now in the side menu... if you are a Manager.. you may want to login to the BACKEND of the Site to do updates and edits.

Maybe it could work? But it will be a kaleidoscopic blend of mysterious shadows and rainbow hued-dreams seen through compassionate tears.

thanks chris

remember (cuz i know that you are a MAC user now) never use Safari when updating the site.

next time you login to the front page, click on 'My Content'.

Me too. I really only need' what's on' and 'about us,' but I guess it wouldn't hurt for the whole site?

I'd like to be able to edit the site too. Keeping events updated seems like the main thing.

How to edit any page on the site - for everyone

Post by pogo » Wed Feb 14, 2007 9:23 am

i am very reluctant to making more 'Managers' than absolutely needed.
the reason being - 'Managers' control the whole site. it's a huge responsibility that isn't even required if you want to make changes to any page. (see below on how to change any page without being a Manager)

Chris, Gareth, Ryan - very understandable why these people are 'Managers'

anyone else (besides the obvious - like say - Duncan) will need to get one of the other Managers to approve you before its done.

to update the EVENTS page there is a special login that can be obtained by simply asking for it thru this BB.

-----------------------------

how to change any page without being a Manager:
  • 1. login
    2. click 'Submit New Content'
    3. open another window with the page you want to change
    4. drag your pointer to select the contents of that page (not the menus of course - but just the inside stuff)
    5. go back and Paste the page into the 'Submit New Content' editor box
    6. make your changes then...
    7. give it a Title and Section it's from and SAVE
Thats it. it will be reviewed by the Forest 'Managers' and if it's approved, it will become the new page.

I'm pretty new around so I won't ask for access, however I can use my knowledge to help you out...

I'm pretty experienced in computer security an I noticed that you're using Joomla. If you want me to test it out for security then just let me know :D

See you around!
