Projector bulb

Post by swithun » Tue Mar 25, 2008 12:33 am

The projector says that it is time for the bulb to be replaced. Do we carry on until it explodes, or wait a while before getting a new one, or get one now? I'll go and get one if that is what the right thing to do is.

that'll be an automatic message as the projector lamp timer has hit +1600/2000 hours (or sommit like that). there should be an option to clear this number and thus clear the message. the bulb will still probably go in a few weeks/month or two (and will have been noticeably dimmer in the last month or three), but should be usable right up until the end (they usually just die rather than explode :)

Yeah, we should get one, but don't change till the new one actually goes.

An old projector bulb sounds like a pig in a poke. It probably won't go for a bit longer, but I wouldn't want to wait until it dies halfway through a film and I have to get access to the balcony, get a ladder downstairs and hurriedly remove a hot piece of glass and metal 5m up in the air.

Is it still the same projector (benq pb8220) as in this thread?
