Amazon Martyr

Post by SammyC » Tue Jun 07, 2005 10:24 am

Greetings!

Two months ago 73 year old US missionary Dorothy Stang,
environmentalist and human rights worker, was murdered in the
Brazilian Amazon. For the last 20 years Sister Dorothy fought against
loggers and ranchers to preserve the Amazon rainforest, while helping
peasant farmers live sustainably in the forest. I went to meet and
make a film about the work of Sister Dorothy shortly before her death.

I am now using the film - The Student, The Nun & The Amazon - to raise
awareness of the issues of deforestation, climate change, land rights
and sustainable development. I am the presenter of the film and also a
student. As such young audiences should be able to connect more
easily with these pressing issues.

I'm hoping to come to the Forest Cafe to show my film sometime, although this is not yet arranged. If you want more info, check out http://www.studentnunamazon.com

Best wishes
Sam

Hi Sammy,

just book it in the forest events book. Ask for it at the counter. Might be good if you advertise your film too. Put up posters or something.
