espresso machine
espresso machine
Is busted. When I turned it on this morning there was a loud pop - probably a fuse. I don't have a key to Infoseed, so I can't check it. But, it was doing the same thing repeatedly yesterday, so this probably stems from the water problem on Wednesday. There was no water due to a burst pipe outside and the chamber went dry and kept trying to heat water. This = bad.
I have called espresso-fixy guy but no answer. He is apparently good but unreliable. We have no coffee. What is to be done???
(There is a small cafetiere for staff emergencies.)

that's a tough one. the espresso machine is amazing and it is good to have and makes fancy shit. cafitieres are a pain in the ass (and probably yield a lot of plumbing problems, i think).
our best options are to get a quote for a repair and possibly one for a new machine. if our insurance exists for anythibg it should exist for this kind of insane accident.
hopefully we can claim. still, best to repair, i think, than buy new. thoughts?

I will get Alex to call the guy again tomorrow. I am away until Wednesday.
Should someone look into the insurance to see what the procedure is if we have to go new? If it is fucked, we might need something from the repair guy saying so. We might also need something from the Council showing that they did repairs to a burst pipe out front.

Insurance guy says we need:
letter from council
report from repair dude
estimate for replacement or repair
We are not covered for accidental damage, which means we have to prove it wasn't our fault.
£250 excess applies, so we would have to pay that. I seem to remember from the fridge glass that they don't pay the VAT either, so we have to cover that ourselves. 12% of whatever the thing costs.
