Forest World Tour meeting 27/11/07
Forest World Tour meeting 27/11/07
Present: Ryan, Andy, James, Swithun, Erica, Heather, Jason, Martin
3 tours - Highlands/Islands, London, Northern cities
Good to have contacts in cities, local acts, pick people up.
Make database of people we know in places.
Have transportable kitchen, equipment for bands, films, publications.
Erica has been on tour with a real band. Never see the place you go to.
Want to put on free events, can't pay for bands.
Transport - better if you don't have to take a drum kit.
Martin says you can get a Routemaster for 1K.
Paint party was good, would be good to do on road.
Feb 21st for first tour, Ryan says.
Have practice tour in Glasgow/Dundee. Can see what we forget.
Get in touch with people in places and sound them out. Post back any good news.
Make T shirts and merchandise to sell.
Andy says that one venue must be a boat. Use canals says James.

Sorry i couldn't make the meeting.
Maybe would be a good idea to gather a list of venues in Highlands and Islands to play at then?
Here's some to start with:
The Sunart Centre, Strontian OR Glenuig Town Hall. Contact Eoghain Carmichael - eoghan.carmichael (at) highland.gov.uk
An Tuireann Gallery, Skye
Contact: Nicola Smith - nicola (at) antuireann.org.uk
We met her during Gaelic Punk tour, here's an email I got from her:
' Hi Dan,
Good to hear back from you. I quite fancy the idea of a weekend programme and funny experimental happenings sounds ideal. If we did it over the weekend we could maybe throw in some workshops? The only problem might be the exhibition hanging as our programme is full until the end of 2008. We could either hang stuff in the café bar area or if it is a particularly minimalist installation at the time then there might be a view to taking it down for a couple of days. I would need to seriously discuss this with our curator though.
I have listened to some of Ryan’s stuff on the forest website already and like very much. Haven’t sought out Magda yet, but will do.
Using outside with some percussive instruments making random sounds or collecting sounds or spontaneous art making could work. Also anything involving poetry readings or other literature connected ideas would be fantastic to help build younger peoples interest in poetry.
I’m thinking summer time would be best – maybe a weekend in August or September?
I’ll speak to the rest of the team and see what they think.
Take care,
Nic

Also there is a place called the celidh house or something. they have a bar thing which would be a good live music place, and across the road there is a bunkhouse with a decent sized room on the ground floor. its privetely owned but the guy seems cool .... if we want to go to that part of the world I know a friend who grew up there and would probably love to get involved, her knowledge would be great.ravanwin wrote: Ullapool Villiage Hall

next tuesday 7pm?
everyone should bring a list of contacts and/or venues we wanna speak to.
Ryan, has the Forest got a big map of the UK we can use to plan the trip and pin on contact details at the different cities?...simply because it will look cool and we can pretend that we are planning a UK wide bank robbery....and it actually might be useful.

There is probably info on this elsewhere but I have a billion orange squares and no white ones...so...what's the deal? Are we meeting again? Going on tour? This excites me. I would like to help.
