new years eve

Post by ravanwin » Wed Dec 12, 2007 8:18 pm

ok - we NEED to get planning.

1) who's on board.

2) here's the idea so far ---

meadows party. we have a mobile sound system, fire works to set off from the far corner and fun glow in the dark stuff. obviously the police will show up but it will be hard to stop us if everybody is dancing and wearing either BLACK TIE dress of a BEAR COSTUME (in honor of the tuner prize).

when we Do get busted up we move back to forest with smoke machine, and 7 colored lazer for more dancing and drinking till dawn.

--- so: we'll need tech people, buyers for the fireworks and goodies, and someone to make me a tuxedeo?

we have a budget of £500 +/-
we on?

T-shirt tuxedos all the way. If I can manage to hire a real bear can I bring him along?

Bear in a tuxedo. Only bears and their "partners" should be allowed in. It will be like Sam 'n Max. Except I think that was a Sasquatch party. Can we make it sasquatches instead of bears?
I've had it with you. If I had an image of a laser gun I would absolutely position it right here in my hand...
Ha! I have a real laser absolutely positioned in my hand!

Sasquatch vs. Bears party
we can have games where teams compete against each other.

the great thing about a tux t shirt is that you can wear it over other clothes. or, you could RENT a real tux OR a very warm bear suit.

i think we should wear bear costumes, and real tuxes, with a tux t-shirt over the top! Its the only solution to this debate.
Ryan this is surely a great oppurtunity to do a Superbad style "bring a juvenile to the party" party, hoepfully when the cops come to shut us down, they will be cool as fuck and apologise for cock-blocking!

this is the main dream, and in fact the reason why forest was created

7 colours programmable is the key and the biggest dream
Maybe it could work? But it will be a kaleidoscopic blend of mysterious shadows and rainbow hued-dreams seen through compassionate tears.

We should def go for the laser. Either rent or buy, I don't mind.

Two buyable bear costumes...

Teddy bear:
http://www.acefancydress.co.uk/product_ ... ts_id=7203

Polar bear:
http://www.acefancydress.co.uk/product_ ... ts_id=7204

Both £70. This is as cheap as they get.

Costume Ha Ha will probably have one to rent, but I haven't seen it yet. Cost around £40. I will contact a couple more places later when I have time...

From what I've seen, the 'teddy bear' costume I linked to above is about the nearest we're gonna get to the Mark Wallinger. It's not exactly a match.

I've phoned around a few more costume shops. Most of them are closed already, or not answering the phone. There's one in Bathgate that has a selection of bears to rent (£40ish) or buy (£60ish), but they don't have a website to view them. It seems we are unlikely to be able to rent several the same as most places will just stock one bear, or a handful of different bears.

Who needs bear costumes and novelty T shirts to have a party? I'll be able to provide lashings of rock action if called upon. See you some time today.

Hey guys,

I don't know if this is intended as an open party or for volunteers. Either way, I'm leaving Forest at 7pm to make black bun for the New Year. If people are intending on hanging out in The Forest then I need a Night Manager, or someone to just be responsible for the building.

Phone and let me know, thanks, A*

...and, bear in mind Bryony's opening tomorrow for business as usual, so please try leave the place in a bearable state for her.

Ah, the fragrant smell of post-UnParty vomit still lingers in my memory.

nice job everyone - it wasn't a bear costume a laser or the meadows but it was a lovely reminder that there is a simple beauty in just having people in a room hanging out. sorry i had to split early - it was a great party. well done.
