Films for the next few weeks

Post by swithun » Mon Feb 11, 2008 2:52 pm

Tonight we will have the very funny OSS 117: Cairo, Nest of Spies. The French James Bond (created before the British one in fact) is sent to Egypt to find out who killed his friend, keep the lid on Arab nationalism and run a chicken factory. Keep an eye out for the sweat marks after OSS 117 gets off his camel.

Next week (18/2) the film will be Accion Mutante (Mutant Action). A gang of mutants and handicapped terrorists kidnap a glamourous socialite as a protest against body fascism. They then fall out over the ransom. This is low budget gross out sci-fi comedy at its finest.

Swith,
i think i fucked up.
i'm thinking that LGBT have booked a film next Monday,
iI think it went through Alex first and then I okayed it,
Ryan arrived when the girl was inking it in
and told her that the spot may have already been decided.
As it's not her fault,
if you wish your choice to be shown
let me know
and I will call her to explain and fix her with meetings she should attend to get involved in the choices

Let's bend the rules and have LGBT fill my slot next week. I wasn't going to be there to watch the film anyway, so this is probably better.

Yeah - I saw their writing was covered up. I've put down Accion Mutante. I thought I had already, but now it is definite.

I asked Pockets to pick something this coming Monday. I'll PM him, but if anyone sees him, ask him to put it in the book. Thanks.

I'll have a think about upcoming stuff. Magda, Duncan, any ideas?

I have Chris Petit's Radio On in case you would be interested in showing it at some point. Not for people that don't like early Wim Wenders, mind.

Bad Boy Bubby.

Tag line: All he needs is love.

Faulknerian idiot manchild is kept locked up in a room for 30 years with/by his mum. Eventually he breaks out and becomes the front man for a rock band, feeding stray cats, talking to mentally handicapped children and pondering the existence of God along the way.

Sorry this didn't get shown in the end. It seemed a going-away-party had been planned. Everything had been organised, apart from telling the people who already had the film night booked. I decided the utilitarian thing to do was let the party go ahead.

I'll try to show this film later, as it is worth watching.

Next week is up for grabs - films only please.
