there's a £320 espresso machine down in newcastle that we could buy if we think it would be good? ours is a bit fucked as one of the elements is dead.

maybe this is silly. ignore it or take it serious.

I don't know what kind of deal we have right now. Do we rent the machine and get free repairs, or was it cheap and we pay for repairs? If this one in Newcastle can work for X months/years without needing fixed, then it could be worth it.

Here's the email (I think), but the photo link isn't correct.

Hi,

The Star & Shadow (in Newcastle upon Tyne) have got a massive coffee
machine
needing a new home.

It was bought on ebay but has never been used much. This partly 'cos it
needs a
pressure-stat (to turn off the power to the heater when the pressure in
the
boiler is high enough) for £55. But the main reason is that we find
making
cafétiers much easier (and probably more energy efficient). We don't
really
need to make fancy espressos. And it is a big machine.

This machine would suit a social centre who makes a lot of coffee. It's
the
same sort of size as you get in coffee shops. There's a picture here:
http://www.coffeeparts.com/gag/gag4.html.

Let us know if you are interested. Delivery at some point might be
possible -
but it is really heavy.

Alan

Do we know if it's got two steamers for milk (i.e soja and cow)?

It could be a Gaggia. They look pretty nice. Most models have 2 steam arms, especially the 'massive' ones.

The page they want to link to is possibly this one, which just shows spare parts for Gaggia models. Part 616597 is a pressure-stat.

I'd go for it, if it hasn't gone to someone else already. It can't be brand new for that price, but it also can't be worse than our current one, and should save a bit in call outs and repairs.
