The idea is that volunteering is empowering and educational, it lifts people out of a rut when they've been unemployed for ages. I think there are loads of skills people can pick up around here. I've picked up a thing or two myself. Diseases though mostly.
i was in the job centre the other week for a being-on-the-sick interview and mentioned the forest to the interviewer who was most interested. they had mentioned a christian voulenteer centre in leith (big in their scene apparently, although i forget the name atm) but said they were always looking for related organisations to mention to people. maybe an official contact from the forest to the job centre regarding our volly opportunities might be an idea?
hey, if you don't like it, post on the BB (so you can ask about participating for better) | MilkMiruku
I was gonna go on the rock'n'roll once as I lost my job and was skint. Walked into the job centre, and was hit by the smell of special brew and the sight of neds looking really pissed off because they had to get out of bed before 1pm to pick up their cheque and saw my future flash before my eyes. I hot footed it outta that place and was signed up to a temping office the next day and in work the next.
I'm glad the Job Centres are such rancid places as it gave me kick up the arse to go find a job....which was damn easy by the way!!
