Crunchy burritos (not in a good way)
Crunchy burritos (not in a good way)
Has anyone had a crunchy burrito recently? Ryan thought he'd had a few. I'm a nachos man myself, so I don't know. But perhaps some people are not cooking the rice properly. If you don't measure the rice with the proper small clear plastic measuring cup, then the rice can be over- (mushy) or under-cooked (crunchy).
If you use the proper measuring cup, then do 10 cups of rice and add water until the 10 cup line. If not using the correct cup, then measure equal amounts of rice and water.

for some reason the "equal ammounts" princilple doesn't seem to work if you use too much rice in that cooker. as it is weighted at the bottom (i think) and so yesterday I used 10 tea cups rice to 10 tea cups water and it took a while to work.
1) we need a proper measuring cup for our rice cookers (we had many for the years i worked in the kitchen, it seems to have been replaced by an orange half-pint cup which i threw against the wall yesterday in a post-beltane, this place if fucked-up, fury.)
2) there is a chance that the rice machine (digital) is fucked because it seemed to keep turning off but maybe i over filled it. should try it with 5 cups rice to 5 cups water and see what happens.
3) why has no KM noticed this?
