The Greatest Comic Event Ever Held...

Postby jbar03 » Wed Mar 19, 2008 10:46 pm

… in a microbrewery…probably…

Prestonpandemonium III will take place on Saturday 31st May 2008 – 12.00– 3.00 p.m. at The Prestoungrange Gothenburg (a.k.a. “The Goth”), 227-229 High Street, Prestonpans, EH32 9BE (26 bus).

The Micro Mart in a Microbrewery has all sorts of comics for all sorts of people – vintage American and British comics and the latest Marvels and DCs; underground and small press comics; Civil War, the Ultimates and 52; European comics and manga; graphic novels and zines.

Several traders and artists have already confirmed for this year.

If you want to be involved in any way: sell your collection; send us a message of support; run a workshop; do some signings; sell your own work; create something specially for PPIII -- as long as you don’t expect to be paid and don’t make any diva demands -- you’re in…

Scotland’s Smallest Small Press event takes part during the annual 3 Harbours Arts Festival which attracts several thousand visitors.

Admission is free.

We don't make any profit - how could we? We are indie publisher friendly and don't mind mates sharing a table but be quick 'cos tables are going fast and it is a small venue.

The micro-mart in a microbrewery is back!.

Prestonpandemonium III Comics & Graphic Novel Fair will take place on Saturday 31st May 2008 – 12.00– 3.00 p.m. at The Prestoungrange Gothenburg (“The Goth”), 227-229 High Street, Prestonpans, EH32 9BE.

Reasons to hop on a 26 bus, and jump off when you see a gigantic totem pole, include:

More traders: Red Hot Comics, Chris Tesdale, Paul Burke, Laurie Grant, Monkey Loft, Proudhuff, Steven Montgomery & Michael Coen

More creators:
Nulsh -- long time friend of Prestonpandemonium, artist of our Octofanboy logo and author of Barking Dog's Bad Day and many other small press comics
Paul von Scott -- publisher and editor of Omnivistacope and Solar Wind, the galaxy's funniest comic
Jeremy Briggs (comics historian and contributor to Spaceship Away, Down the Tubes and Bear Alley), Ben Clark (cartoonist behind small press funnies Lenny Biscuits, Griefbringer and Shabby Tales) & Graeme Neil Reid (illustrator and comic artist who's work has appeared in the prestigious Negative Burn and his own collection One Last Time) -- all sharing a table
Tom Cochrane and Alan Tanner -- the creative team behind the soon to be published Fat Man graphic novel, an ambitious 350 page time travel thriller. Alan has a long history in comics including the infamous Rupert the Bear / Robert Crumb mashup for Oz magazine
Gavin Inglis -- multitalented author of Crap Ghosts and several comics
Thomas Crielly -- illustrator who combines both new technology and traditional artistic methods

As if all this wasn’t reason enough to head for Scotland’s smallest comic fair, Visitors to PPIII might be interested in other 3 Harbours Arts Festival events:

· An exhibition by small press superstar Malcy Duff across the road from PPIII in The Potteries (Venue 7) where Ben Ewart Dean’s 7-minute film “Malcy’s Horses” is also being shown

· 2nd Prestonpans Mural Fest and Graffiti Car (11am to 6pm), nearby Cuthill Park (Venue 5)

· Live music, all afternoon from the Bands in the Pans bus sited in the Prestoungrange Gothenburg car park

When this year’s Prestonpandemonium draws to a close, a bus will be waiting to take visitors on a free guided tour of the National Library of Scotland exhibition, Local Heroes: The Art of the Graphic Novel.

This exhibition draws on material from the Library's vast collections to tell the story of how comics have 'grown up' over the past 40 years and reveals the influential role Scottish artists and writers have played in the evolution of the graphic novel as a serious art form.

Hope to see you there.

(Please help spread the world)
