social centre in glasgow?

Post by James » Sat Jun 28, 2008 9:09 am

Is there really nothing?
Alex has said before lots of people have asked him about it and now someone's emailed me - they are coming from glasgow for the talk on ubuntu.
Someone told me once there is probably as much stuff happening in Glasgow as here, but there isn't a place like The Forest to act as a central focal point, so it all feels more disjointed and it feels like nothing is happening.
we could start an email list on risup, and everyone we talk to about this we could tell them, with the hope that some day the list will get big enought and something will happen?

via the uk social centre network map, http://georgesxchalkboard.blogspot.com/, so yes, resources but no social centre in glasgow.

i agree a list for interested parties would be a good idea. in a related matter, i'm working on this atm which is something i hope will help facilitate in the same way (but more) in the future.
hey, if you don't like it, post on the BB (so you can ask about participating for better) | MilkMiruku

There was a place in Glasgow for a while some years ago, on Albion St. I know one of the people who was involved in it is still in Glasgow. If you're starting a list let me know and I'll see if she's interested.

Are you sure there isn't a list already? It might be a little off putting to Glasgow folks if a bunch of Forest people just swoop in like they know how to fix things...

A space with an anarchist philosophy, in a shopfront on a corner they got cheap rent on from the council. As I understand it the people fell out with each other & it collapsed. We're going back a few years here.
