Current Workshops

Post by Gaz » Thu Mar 22, 2007 12:44 am

Hey!

Free workshops are a key part of what the Forest provides.
There is a page on the website to list current workshops.

Looky here!

I think it is important that this page is as up to date as possible.

Please add to this sticky with details of current workshops and we can then add it to the website....

Please add:
Name of workshop
Details
Where and when
Contact (if possible)

Please give each workshop it's own entry. Below are details taken from posters.

Easy!

SPIRITUAL NUTRITION

Post by Gaz » Fri Mar 23, 2007 7:16 pm

Spiritual Nutrition

Starts Wednesday 28th March
8pm

Are you into Meditation, Yoga, Tai Chi, Chi Quong, Emotional Freedom Technique and all the rest of that crap?

Do you find it hard to sit and make your mind be still?
Are you troubled by negative thought pattern?
Do you want to get high without consuming toxins?
Dare you read on.....?

Statement of Fact
The mind is a complex organ. It wants to be busy all the time. It plays games with itself. How often have you found yourself thinking a thought that bears little relation to the 'real you' When we meditate etc the mind creates silly thoughts that seem to get in the way of our desired goal. No matter how much we practice, no matter how much time we spend willing our minds to do a certain thing it says ' I shall not be tamed, I shall continue to think about what I'm having for tonight's tea...'

It's a bleak looking scenario but there is a simple solution:
Complete Physical Detox

The mind and the body are part of one organism. Agreed?

If the body is polluted and in a state of agitation what chance has the mind to become clear, focused and calm? Piss all really. Ok there are a small group of individuals who may not need to do this but for the rest of us three months of eating fresh, raw vegan food is enough to get yourself into a physical state wher you can begin to maximise the efeect of any spiritual practices you do/know. That's right. Three months on the living diet and it's lift off.

What Next? How Do I Jump On This Bandwagon?

As there are seemingly very few people aware of the facts detailed above a series of workshops are to be held in the Forest over the next wee while (free, obviuosly). The workshops are very informal and are designed to give novices and experienced practictioners a chance to share information/experiences with each other.

Can the action working group review what workshops are happening now and we can update this list. We can delete ones which aren't happening.

Did you guys ever register the bags you'd made with morsbags and add them to our tally? Would be great if you did as morsbaggers have made nearly 15,000 bags now potentially replacing over 7 million plastic bags... :D

Are you still running the workshop?

how many of these are still active? a) would be handy for the new website and b) for carlos who is taking over the role of workshop co-ordinator.

Hey!

So, what regular workshops do we currently have running? It's all a little ambiguous. Is the Calendar accurate/complete?

Are either of you admins on the Google Calendarderdar? If not, can someone edit the calenderdarder so it's up-to-date? Who's currently organising/promoting/bottomlining workshops?

(Still getting my head round the events-type housekeeping that needs doing while I'm subbing for Chris)

OK, cool. I don't have access to the Workshops calendar myself, only Forest downstairs and upstairs. Looks like a bit of maintenance is needed:

- Life drawing is now 12-4 on Sunday, not Saturday
- Forest Drama is 4-7 on Sunday, not 1-4
- Is the Hoop Jam still happening?
- Margarida's Portugese workshop isn't listed
- Brittonie's screenprinting and darkroom workshops aren't listed (can you give us dates and start times, B?)

(sorry for sticking my oarr in; I'm just trying to figure out when the hall and facilities are actually being used, to help with making bookings)

OK, I've moved all the currently running workshops to the Forest UPSTAIRS and DOWNSTAIRS calendars, and Duncan (new website admin) will remove the workshops feed from the website, which should get us up-to-date

Brittonie and Lien, shall we do a Google Calendar skillshare next week, so that you two can run these aspects yourselves? While regular Forest users will find out about workshops through posters, Facebook and socialising, new people are likely to come in through the What's On page, so we do need to get it functioning well.

i know how to use google calendar. But i'm certainly up for getting things all running on the same page (literally and metaphorically).

also... was wondering if i can talk to you about how the cave does certain things, so i can try to move the SP and DR in the same direction...

Harry you rule, as always. Enjoy your vacation. <3
