Invitation to participate in “The Forest Presents 15 Minute Theatre” night
Good Morning,
The Forest would like your help in presenting a “15 Minute Theatre” night. One night in early December we plan to turn the old church hall above The Forest Cafe into a venue and present three 15 minute theatre pieces every hour - whether finished polished pieces or new ideas being tried out on an audience for the first time. In the days leading up to the performance we hope to present a programme of related workshops and other activities.
We want to do this because The Forest's aim as a charity is to be a supportive place for artists to produce new work. The idea of presenting work in a relaxed atmosphere appeals and sometimes, even a hour is to long for a show. By getting many of the theatre groups in Edinburgh and some from beyond together to meet and exchange ideas, hopefully we can encourage new works and partnerships.
We are putting out the call for any groups who want to get involved by putting on a piece or holding a workshop to get in touch and express their interest. The ethos of The Forest is to provide free events, and thus the evening and the workshops will be free to the audiences. We would not charge any group wanting to participate, but equally we could not pay them either. But we can provide you with a theatre venue, publicity for the event and a supportive atmosphere.
At three 15 minute pieces an hour, that only leaves 5 minutes between shows. Props and staging have be kept to an absolute minimum, in order to keep the changeover short. And there won't be time to change the seating and the audience around – all groups will have to use the same area of staging. Lighting effects will have to be kept to a minimum.
If your interested in participating, give me a call and let me know. Hopefully I'll get enough interest to start booking dates in December ...
Yours sincerely,
