mINIvIDfEST

Post by michaelbowdidge » Wed Aug 13, 2008 8:03 pm

We (Stephen and Mike) have been having a bit of a think about this and have come to the following conclusions:

1. We want to make a big 3 x A0 poster for the gallery for this event, which we think we can get for about £12.

2. We want to show the videos that we have on a continuously looping DVD on a small DVD/monitor combo that we think we can borrow, this would just sit on the ground in the gallery.

3. We also think it would be cool to make a video issue of the Logos to include in the screening, we thought that this could perhaps be done at the next action meeting on sunday 24th (or on another day if people are tied up then)

4. It might also be nice to include this piece that Mike and Mike Hinc did in the gallery as part of the screening too, if people like it...

hmmmm, do we know yet if we are going to do the matters/miguel thing with the lost parcel on thursday? if not we can bring the video day forward and extend it to two days - Simone what's the score with that?

With regard to Irina's failing DVD I figured that what i could do is hang out for an hour or two in the morning after I turn up to turn the thing on and show her piece then for a while (if we can't re-burn it to a complilation disk) and then change over to the rest of the programme at lunch time - at least that way it all gets a viewing...

Getting mINIvIDfEST posters printed by college repro tomorrow: £1.40 each - how cool/cheap is that?!?

Right, so mINIvIDfEST 2 is upon us- Shall we meet? who can print the posters? shall we make another video logos? what do we need in terms of call for submissions?

Ok, well..... I had taken it upon myself to get this moving already, as I thought it was getting late and I had thought I had taken this an an AP at the last meeting, so........ here goes with the update.....

Call for submissions has already gone out on art review (sunday) and on the email to the students and staff at eca (today). 5 responses so far + Mike Hinc and myself would like to submit a short piece for consideration too.

I have set the deadline for next monday - I know its a bit tight but we are meeting on tuesday night anyway for the monthly meeting (because of christmas) so I thought that would be a good chance to collectively select what's in and what's not and give us plenty of time to compile the master disk...

Have also set up a dedicated email account for submission enquiries: minividfest2@googlemail.com - the password is the same as the yahoo submissions account.

I'm fine to do the posters too and get them printed. Stephen, would you be ok to sort out the dvd combo as previous and complie the master disk?

The only other thing we need to decide is on and off times or whether we're just going to leave it running...

Here's the text for the call for submissions if anyone wants it...

Total Kunst Gallery are currently accepting submissions for minividfest2, a programme of screenings to be held in our gallery in Edinburgh from 22nd December 2008 -3rd January 2009. We're particularly interested in showing works which have been specifically made for presentation on a single small monitor, either with or without sound.

The deadline for submissions is monday 15th December - sorry it's bit tight!

For more details please email: minividfest2(at)googlemail.com

DVDs can be posted to us at TOTAL KUNST GALLERY, The Forest, 3 Bristo Place, Edinburgh, EH1 1EY, UK

Apologies if I've made huge assumptions here, but I genuinely thought it was pretty much my AP as I thought my name was up against it on the gallery calender... hope this sounds ok to you all?

it skips . it shows the heading of a few names and then starts so i think it may be missing first couple of films.
i have not seen them all but when i was working i kept popping and seeing the same two.
it would be good to try another dvd .
thanks stephen

dropped off the new dvd and it seems to be working at the moment, though the sound on the tv seemed a bit funny.

At the start of the video 2 names show on screen in quick succession, this is because the first artist's work's title is a name, so i included an image of the artist's name in addition to the title name. But it looks like there are two names at once. If that makes any sense.
