In other news, yesterday I fixed up the two computers on the right hand side of the action room.
Furthest right: Was already running 8.04 but severely out of date and not using proper graphics card drivers. This has now been fully updated and the drivers installed, configured and tested. Now the screen is running at 75hz, so you can actually use it without the flickering killing your eyes
Second in: Was still running 7.10 and wouldn't upgrade using the upgrade manager "Could not download release notes". Running a forced upgrade from the command line said there was no new version of Ubuntu available
so with a bit of hacking, I managed to point it to repositories it could access. This machine is now fully updated on 8.04 and has also had the graphics card drivers sorted so it is running at a non eye-bleeding resolution/refresh.
I will be in most of the day today as well and plan to fix up the two left hand side machines. Furthest left needs reinstalling from scratch to 8.04 and the other one needs the graphics issue sorted.
