Front of House Meeting

Post by emi » Mon Jan 12, 2009 4:57 pm

We need to make the cafe look nice. We're going to meet on Sunday, the 18th at 3pm to brainstorm.
Everyone's welcome.
If you cant make it to the meeting, let us know what your ideas are.

great i should be able to make it. Here are some thoughts about the red room i posted to another thread:

Red room--

i think we should repaint, at least a few shades brighter than the current colour. The last time we did this it turned out to be a bigger job than expected because the grooves in the wooden panelling increased the time needed for sanding and painting. With a dedicated team though, it shouldn't be too bad.

Other things I think would be good would be to refresh the info boards again Also, sorting out the events posters in there- the free walls could be used well for rolling and/or semi permanent art works, which would make it look good, rather than the events posters that currently occur.
Other red room thoughts-

I think we could have less stuff in the windows- maybe just have some good menu posters, so that the space gets more light from outside and is more inviting.

Also changing the shelf that currently has the solitary seat on it to a cushioned window seat like suggested elsewhere- the problem is that this would displace the plants...

General FOH- i would like to bring back the a0 posters project.

i can't be there for the meeting but would be happy to help another time.
a window seat would be cool, we'd need to think about the cushions though as the window gets really condensationy and they may end up really damp and smelly. getting the posters out would be a good idea too and just on one or two poster boards but this has been tried before and the poster police weren;t active enough.
we could have a few shelves higher up rather than free standing shelves for the plants. i want to try and sort them out a bit as lots of poorly sick ones. i'll talk to bloo about them as well as think he was main plant person.
also agree with a brighter colour for red room , preferably not red! it freaks me out!
i think the a0 posters would be better in the cafe where they were before as no one put posters near them there and they may in the front room. i really like the orange wall for a background for them but mural would have to go....remember change is good!
I saw two shooting stars last night, i wished on them, but they were only satellites.
is it wrong to wish on space hardware?

Hi guys, I'm no good at aesthetics and it sounds like positive movement. I will be on hand to help move, make, destroy anything on any day of action though.

good thinking, will check it out. Hadn't considered condensation, may well be a problem...
