Volunteer Party: feb 25th. 2006

Post by ravanwin » Tue Feb 07, 2006 3:55 pm

All,

some people have suggested an 80s theme night party for the volunteer party this month. does anyone have any feelings for or against?

I, of course, have my own opinion. But we would all like to hear yours as YOU are the volunteers for whom the party is being thrown.

"She's a super freak, super freak, she's super-freaky, yow"

I think the 80's have to be exorcised from our parties and this is the only way. I'm gonna pull some Keith Forsey on y'all!

Themes are redundant.
Eighties' Nights are the territory of the worst kind of lowest common denominator clubs.
And then there's the whole fucking irony aspect.
It was a terrible decade.

'I think the price we paid for our golden life was an inability to fully believe in love; instead we gained an irony that scorched everything it touched. And I wonder if this irony is the price we paid for the loss of God.'
Douglas Coupland

Having said all of the above, writing off a whole decade is sort of unreasonable, so it gets my provisional green light if the alternative aspects get light shone upon them.

I redouble my first assertion themes are evil.
So, of course if I was a lesser person I might work in a themed DJ slot

I think it would be great if everyone brought in some of their faves and we just played a bit of everything. That way everyone would get a chance to hear a most probable huge variety of music.

Although, if it's 80s people want I aint complaining!

all we'd be doing is grabbing stereo types and edinburgh has had 2,304787487848847878478784874 80's parties since i've been here.
I have no usefull suggestions but it'd be nice to do something unique, original and imaginative.
I really enjoyed a narnia party once where y had to walk through a wardrobe to get into the house.
erm.....
i dunno
up and at it.
