kitchen grant - get that good stuff we wants

Post by ravanwin » Wed Apr 02, 2008 3:39 pm

New scheme: £500 to £3000 Available available for groups and agencies in Scotland who wish to improve access to, and take up of a healthy, varied and balanced diet.
It would not be hard to argue that this is one of the things the Forest offers people who volunteer in the Kitchen.

I can think of at least one volunteer who was encouraged to come to the forest by his social worker as part of getting him cooking and eating more healthily.

Aplicants need to tackle one of these issues:
Availability - such as the lack of access to fruit and vegetables of an acceptable quality and cost Affordability - such as the cost of getting to the shops as well as the cost of shopping Skills - such as the lack of confidence and skills for cooking or shopping Culture - such as long established dietary habits and reluctance to experiment with new foods
I would say the Forest kitched has 3 and 4 covered.

I wouldn't mind doing this, it's about time I did some paperworky benificial thing for Forest. It'll be more effective than the Fire risk assessment I spent ages on that dissappeared into nothingness.

I'll chat to you when I see you next Ryan,

Ryan! This is what I was yabbering on at you about not so long ago! I'm glad to see it again.

I'm immediately APing myself to get this rolling, as soon as possible. This money will be for the kitchen, and will lessen financial concerns?

:D

Just had a look, we apply in the summer and, if we're successful, get money in Autumn. We can totally comply with all the required fields.

I'm waiting to hear back from them as to when the grants scheme for 2009 is being launched.

The site's been updated apparently;
The 2009 small grant scheme will open on 21 April 2009.
I love the bomb.

Yep the Forest would definitely get this - the example they use on the form a 'volunteer club in the inner city, helping chilren learn to cook' is so similar as it is.

Timely to do after the Forest 'ideas' meeting also, to include these in answer to the 'proposed work' section. It asks for a breakdown of costs that the fund is to cover, so think of everything you can use/need and a 'shopping day' on which it would be spent.

Form is very straightforward.

If it helps it happen faster-send me all the bits it requires of things I may not yet know of the forestand I can write it in application form in no time...it keeps me outa trouble...and a nice break from other writings.

I don't want to be the contact person or anything, so can't sign it but if it helps get it in a format so it is suitable,I will help...
