new website buttons - CSS help required plz!

gah, the buttons for facebook/myspace/etc work fine in firefox 3.5, but b0rk in other browsers. can anyone with css skills advise on where i'm going wrong here?

on firefox 2 , the cursor has to click the top of the icon for it to work . if i click in the middle then nothing . at first i thought they where for show only having clicked the middle and nothing happened .

that's the problem. it's the same in any version of firefox pre-3.5 :/

i don't know if i'm doing it bleeding edge right or if 3.5 has more fault tolerance than before, though i'd have thought this was a fairly basic CSS thing to try implement
