Hello to everyone...

I need to ask you something about the chance to use the gallery for a photographic exhibition...

Giovanna and me would like to organize a day or two with african storytelling, music, food, films...
There is a friend of mine, an italian boy that actually is in Dafur to work with a charity... He is a photographer...and he sent to me some nice photos...

It could be really nice to use the gallery to have in those days an exhibition well...(maybe for only one week?)
The project could be complete with it!

I'm going to send you the submission, with the photos and maybe more details about the project ... even if Giò and me are working still on it...

Cheers anyway

Ilaria

I've added the details i know which are few.

Is the gallery still empty until 22nd sep?

I notice Ilaria was asking about using the gallery- if this is planned for september it should be possible now unless we have booked something in?

Toby Lloyd needs to know if we have a couple of dvd players or monitors we can let him use for his show. If not he may be able to source his own - do we have access to anything?

Also, he'd like to know if the darkroom is currently functional?

ilaria (ila on bb) is the person to ask i think about dvd's. she will be able to tell you, i think there would only be one full time one as they always need one for a monday film and the golden hour. worth asking though. with the problems recently with the cd players getting stolen from show he should be warned about theft and it may be an idea to remove them at night? at least at weekends.

i don;t think the darkroom is available due to flooding

updated with info from Thursday's meeting

I have also added future slots (finally got my head round it.)

The details are as follows but there is some discussion still to be had here:
5th april -2nd may tk31

3rd May-30th May tk32

31st May-27th Junetk33

28th June-4th July*tk34

5th July-2nd August tk35
which would probably put the mapproject running from 31st May until 27th June- which may not be ideal for the annuale as they are aiming for the end of June

Any thoughts?

i think it's important to keep the mapping project in line with the annuale dates, so perhaps we could stick in some shorter shows either side of it if it falls across two month long slots - that might be the easiest solution...

HI ,yes, jessica confirmed and is really keen but was wondering if she could switch with the next show - this is stephens RDD Cormack show... i do not see its confirmed yet, so stephen is this a possibility?
-the reason being that she is from U.S. and is going there over the hols and is coming back after the show dates. it would nip off some days from the beginning of her show. I told her that if that was the case i could work with her to solve this in a way that would utilize the gallery well for that time as well, but it would be ideal to switch...

what say stephen?

i think we should stick to the original dates that we offered him. i always worry that it makes us look bad when we change dates with people.
is there any other slots that we could offer the other person mirja instead?

Well its no problem, as i said it has to be worked into jessicas show that she is not around the first days of her show.

we can ask if the person before would like to extend for a couple of days?
we can ask jessica to have a plan where on these dates she has some type of interesting presence in the gallery
( for example posting older work and the ideas she is going to be working on in the gallery when she gets there... or prepare the show ahead of time so that i can hang it.... there are a lot of possibilities)
we put something temporary in the gallery ( videos ... experimental works in progress... hold a 'work-voteout' - bring some works in progress in for a couple of days and ask people to write on the sheets on the wall whats right/wrong with them... lots of things can be done i think. )

i do not think we can switch her around as we would not have anybody else to show with such short notice.

at the map meeting it was discussed that culturerobot would use the map project to gain information and then need a show to exhibit the final work. he needs to know early on about dates to get funding to travel from croatia. it was thought that the dates 6th sept - 3rd oct would be suitable, esp as beginning of term for the art school.
do people agree, in which case we can book this slot in the calendar?

HI all,
I know we are not doing submissions now but I was wondering if I could pencil in a slot for more suitcase stuff - similarly to last year. I remember we talked about this before, in that way I will know when to schedule in my rolling submissions. I was thinking November again - it would be TK 41?

I don't have his email i'm afraid.

So my idea for the summer dates from the email the other day was:
Adam Burton for 31st May to 13th June and then the Map project from 14th June to 11th July and then we could use the gallery to exhibit Cornelia's proposal to do a ten year forest exhibition in advance of the 10 year Forest celebration that will be occuring in August.
so that would put the forest 10 year exhibition running from 12th of July to the 25th...

Can anyone tell me why the festival slots begin on the 29th? there seems to be a 4 day gap in the slots.

I did contact katalin with the right dates so she knows.
Its just that EAF starts 29th so that must have been the 'reason'.

Heather Tweed has sent in a revised proposal for us to look at - I personally don't see any problem with her changing what she wants to do a bit - though strangely enough she seems to have gone in the direction of the map project withough even being aware of it. I've attached it below if anyone wants to have a look, and you could probably cull some text for a flyer from it too Martin, by the looks of it.
