You know when you search for 'The Forest' on goggle, the first thing that comes up out of 322,000,000 results is our website. That's pretty good, right?

I wonder if tumblr does good search engine awareness for us?

We're also no. 1 when you search for 'forest cafe'. But two things are really annoying.

Our number 1 URL is http://forestcafe.tumblr.com/ not our nice http://www.theforest.org.uk/ that we pay for.

The no .3 URL when you search for 'forest cafe' is the old about page from the old site: http://www.theforest.org.uk/about

We've been using tumblr for a while now, can we get the blog showing up at theforest.org.uk properly? Is it technically impossible to do so, while still having http://theforest.org.uk/bb/ point to our bb? If so, can we move the bb to http://bb.theforest.org.uk/? Something better than the HTTP 301 redirect we're using now.

Not easily/at all. It's not just the BB, there's also the cave booking system, the webmail (which we can't change) and a few other bits and pieces running on the server/webspace we're paying for.

I did go through everything I could think of to try and find a solution when we first made the change. The problem is, even if you move everything to subdomains, we still have to run the main domain from Barnabus' server so that everything else (mail, ftp, other subdomains) work properly, so then still all we can do is the redirect from the main page to tumblr.

Oh well, thanks for looking into it. It's probably the kind of thing that very few people care about anyway. It's cool that forest is so high on google, a lot of people must link to it.

On a Duck Duck Go search for 'the forest' we're the second link under 'Places', second to a disused Australian railway station. We've even got our own page: http://duckduckgo.com/Forest_Caf%C3%A9
We come third if you search for 'forest cafe'.

We're listed under 'the forest' and 'forest cafe' on wikipedia also: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Forest

'Bing' search only puts us 20th for "The Forest" but 1st for "Forest Cafe".

"Foest Cafe" gives you this to enjoy: http://www.iris.dti.ne.jp/~haya-c/

bing.
