So
You're on for the 27th if you're up for it!
It's our last night in the building so we're having a 'Happening'

we'll set up a cinema in on of our basement rooms and we'd like to have another room adjacent for a 'bike bondage' room... thoughts?
We'd surely be into a naked bike ride!!! and anything else you might like to do!

I'm going to post this on the bb- we organize things collectively in volunteer fashion, so it would be the most helpful if you could post on this forum so as to cut out the middle man - or open the floor for all in the most direct way?

If it's a pain let me know- i can just repost but...

we're using that room on a few other nights for event type things.
But - if other people have objections to the SP room being used for that night

I still think the happening should be the saturday, crazy to have it on the sunday, Cave 1 is a good option if we still want to have the vollie room, what will be using cave 1 for?

Hello from the Bike Smut team!

We are so excited to come to edinburgh. All your plans sound great. Bike bondage room is very intriguing.

So, you guys should make this event everything you want it to be! We will bring the movies and we have a few fun and interactive performances that are integrated into the Screening.

Regarding the fringe festival in the hall, I dont think that having our screening start after is so bad. 11pm is a great time to start watching porn. I have been to the forest once, but cant remember all the details of the space. How late are you guys open?? and this happening means lots of time for fun party after the show??

Also, if anyone once to organise a naked bike ride, that would be great.

So just let me know what you need to know from us!

we have a screening room in the cave 1 already from 7-...13th, i think... so we have it all set up and a trial run, and then , hopefully, it would be easy for you guys to set it up again, we are thinking of painting the wall to make a screen, but we will see what works best.

Great if you guys already have a screening room set up.

Could some one give me a more detailed explanation of the way the space is set up? everyone is talking about caves and such and im a little confused. Is this in a basement below the cafe??? whats going on with the upstairs? I was at the forest once, but a few years ago, so a bit more description would help me know what would work best for us.

How many people does this screening room hold?? will there be seating and a stage of some sort? Where is the bar in relation to it??

Is someone up for taking control of setting up the bike bondage room?? What sort of activities would you want to happen there??

Would we charge a small cover fee, or ask for donations (we are entirely self funded, so we are trying to cover petrol expenses, but we dont believe in turning anyone away becasue they cant pay) not sure how your space works with that sort of thing, especially with the festival on, but let me know what suits you best.

I am guessing because there is this 'happening' on, we can have people join that for an after party?

Any thoughts for promotion??

As many answers a I can provide below! I reckon someone needs to take on the job of co-ordinating this properl with BikeSmut, though. When do you folks arrive in the country?



When would you like? It could be any time of day you prefer, but will probably work best early evening, given the event. How loong will you need?



I don't think anyone's taken this idea on yet.



We have a projector and a suitable wall in the room, but no screen.



Would you like chairs or cushions?



Before, after, and during. The Happening is a semi-planned, semi-spontaneous art/party/asylum over the entire building. I think what was envisioned was having you as part of the whole glorious thing, but giving you a separate room to work in so that you could maintain the shape of your own event.



The Cave is a square basement room, and we can basically set it up however you'd like for that night. Not entirely sure what'll be happening in the rest of the building, but it'll be a mix of art and music and dancing and smut and so on.



Comfortably, 20-30. Squished in and sweaty, however many you like.



Seating, yes; stage, no.



There'll be a cocktail speakeasy directly across the hall, and two fuller-stocked bars in the café upstairs and in the hall above that.



You can ask for donations to cover your costs, but we'd prefer if this was an open amountt and ask non-pressuringly, rather than an expected suggested donation for entrance.



Oh hell yes.



Send us a poster and blurb and we'll put it on all our online stuff. We don't do much paper publicity, except a few posters inside the building and some directional arrows on the night. But the building will be rammed that night, fear not!

to add to Harry's answers: I think Brittonie has kind of taken on co-ordinating the bike bondage room so she will make sth happen.

Also, we might close for a few hours right before the event to make sure we properly arrange/ destroy/ decorate (?) the building for The Happening so your event might have to be at the same time as the Happening actually starts, so not too early in the evening. Is 8/9pm ok?

I'm totally down for helping out... but i can't bottom line it. I'm already doing the whole speakeasy... (which i could seriously use some help with)
There was word that the guy from the monster bikes was being contacted... i think that he could be very useful/helpful/integral if the connection is made... i believe Dr Palmer has his deets though.

The speakeasy cocktail bar sounds brilliant!!

So considering the situation with the happening and the size of the room, I was thinking it might be better to do a few shorter programs rather than the usually 2 hour full program.

So maybe 1 at 8.30, then at 10, then at 11.30. each around 40 mins?

Chairs and cushions sound great. We have a screen.

We will be in the UK from tomorrow! wooo! But will be driving all over, doing about 10 dates in total. We will be up in scotland just the weekend of the 27th.

It would be great if you guys could throw down some money for petrol, it sounds like from the way this party is set up it might be more of an in and out affair, so harder to ask for donations. somewhere around 50 quid would be awesome.

And please someone help brittone with the bondage room! it sounds so great!

HELLO EVERYONE!

Here at Bike Smut headquarters we have had a very frustrating week. We have had 4 (FOUR!!) shows either cancel or fall through. This really upsetting as they were all in the north of england or scotland (i.e.Glasgow). It also means that you guys are literally our only reason to head back up north. (we are at a festival in Oxfordshire this weekend, and our plan was to play 2 or 3 shows next week on our way up to you) But as much as we REALLY want to come to edinburgh, it seems a little silly to drive from oxford on monday, for our show with you on Saturday, only to have to drive back to cambridge the next tuesday!

We have tried to reach out to everyone we can to pick up more shows over the past few days..but nothing has come through. If you know anyone in a town between Oxford and Edinburgh (except manchester and bristol, been there done that) then PLEASE get in touch with them and see if they can help arrange something. We really need just 2 or 3 shows and it would still make sense for us to trek back north....if we dont get them, we might have to consider cancelling on you guys, which is something i REALLY DO NOT want to do!!!
