Leaving a poster in the window

Post by Martin » Tue Aug 30, 2011 3:08 pm

I think we should leave a poster up in the window before we hand over the keys.

The building will probably stand empty for a long time. Next month many new people will come to town and walk by and not know what was there. Others will walk by and remember, but think we are gone for good.

Something like what's below. Suggest changes? I can see about getting this printed out big to put up tomorrow.

Good idea, but can we wheatpaste it to make it harder to remove?

Also, say no to Times New Roman.

Arial. Or Impact, possibly Comic Sans.

Looks really good!
Also, Harry, good job on the letter. I'm so happy it's on Times New Roman.

The font on the final poster is Palladio, in case anyone was wondering. :)

There are some subtle differences. Palladio on top, Times New Roman below:

Martin, that poster was & is wonderful. Makes a great profile pic.

Swithun, the subtle difference seems to be about size. Then again, isn't everything?

There are things like the tail on the j, the counter for the e and the serifs are more bracketed in Times New Roman. The kerning isn't so good for Palladio on my netbook, which is partly why the line is longer.

Not that I'm an anorak or anything.

Or doing something in chalk on the pavement? That way they can't complain we're damaging or fly-postering the building.

I'm wondering how hard it would be to make a fake plaque

would be a shame if they caught on but there's a chance they might think they're stuck with it.

If we get like 20 people to do it all in the same hour it might seed it enough to make it happen! Great idea! Anyone want to co-ordinate it?
