Getting started...
There must be people out there interested in this one....
Mission anyone?
1. To support writers and their work.
2. To build Forest Publishing.
3. To have a nice library, with a wide-variety of reading material.
Add your own thoughts maybe...
Anybody up for a first working group meeting at the end of this week? What do we want to do with this group??

excuse the stupid question from an outsider, but why should library + publishing be in the same working group? unless forest wants to aim towards a literature policy akin to the music poilcy i.e. only copyleft/local/open source/in house material????
i dont see that 1.and 2. in the above list have ANY connection with 3.
as i see it, library is more in the realms of front of house...but i think the idea of following the jukebox model is interesting and if forest only wants forest writers included in the library that should be pushed. maybe one exception should be: the Manual.

Too many working groups = too many meetings
It was an attempt to put 2 things, that didn't amount to much on their own, together to make something a bit more substantial.
Both involve books.
Maybe writers know about and care about books and libraries....
But then again maybe not.

i hear you. funny - the working group system is supposed to cut down the number of meetings, i thought. but what do i know; i havent been to a meeting in years (unless you count the Unparty!!!)
then i would suggest library be subsumed by foh. i think publishing is a hugely important issue: like 4rest records. maybe those two should come together. its actually all publishing not matter if its words or music.........

disagree... the library should be full of amazing fanzines and magaziens from around the world, we should get subscriptions to these, just as they should have subscription to cia nights... it is the writers who should be aware of this stuff and get us it etc..
it should stay with publisheing

Maybe it could work? But it will be a kaleidoscopic blend of mysterious shadows and rainbow hued-dreams seen through compassionate tears.
ryan in class.
i can make 4 but only for 30 / 40 minutes.
a pre-meeting meeting?

I think library has more affinity with publishing than front of house
espedially if we wish the library to stock small limited run titles from small publishers.
Zine culture thrives on trade
it would be nice to stock up the library that way.
Firming links along the way
