terra folk: discuss:

Post by ravanwin » Sun Feb 25, 2007 10:50 pm

I need to get back to graeme re: this. But, please, have a look and come up with any ideas. I'm thinking the Terra Folk workshop Jam.

feat. gorman, richold, danny, the gut buckets and more???

or should it be something else?

read and comment:
Hi Ryan

Sorry about the dealy in getting back to you about the
Terrafolk situation but so much has been happening and
I didn't want to come back to you until I had definite
solutions to what is happening.

Now that I do I need to give you the lowdown!

Right, firstly, as you probably know we are doing a
gig at the Queen's Hall on Friday 11th May. Due to our
contract with the Queen's Hall we are not allowed to
play another gig within 40 miles of that venue within
2 months of the date of performance. So that has put
the lid on that.
BUT, the good news is that the band would be well up
for your other suggestion - the workshop.
They said they can certainly do a special one-off
workshop with musicians at the FOrest Cafe if you
would like to organise it.
The workshop would be for 3 hours and it is up to you
how much you would charge the musicians and to your
discretion how much to give to Terrafolk.
The workshop can be held in the evening at the Forest
Cafe on Wednesday 9th May.

What do you think?

Best wishes

Graeme

GOT THIS TODAY:

Ideas?

Hi Ryan

The band seem pretty keen to actually do it as a
proper workshop lasting about 3 hours that the
musicians would find really informative etc so it may
not transpire as a performace at all!
ANyway, this is what the Terrafolk guys said so it
should be advertised as such.

I have a load of generic posters that have a blank
space for gig and workshop details so I can send you
some to help advertise it. How many would you want?

The number of participants can vary but in the past
the band has had as many as 20-25 and each participant
paid about £8.
You will need to charge to get the serious committed
ones. The band want to make it formal with a proper
programme etc so what do you think?

Best wishes

Graeme

no to charging i agree but there should be some application process so serious people come and get involved and the workshop is useful. I think some A4 sheet of quesitons or something to tax people a bit so you can weed out the layabouts. this should be publicised around the place, on bongo list etc, terra folk are great and their workshop will be legendary....
