Edinburgh Festival Events
For the Edinburgh Festival 2007the Forest will be running a venue. The details are hazy but this we know: it will be awesome. Performers will have more fun and loose less money. We aim to provide a decent space at a reasonable cost to performers who are truly fringe. If you want to get involved as a performer or volunteer please contact ryan[@]theforest.org.uk
Visiting Edinburgh and want to put on an event here?
If
you are planning on coming to Edinburgh and want to put on an event,
the best thing to do is telephone the cafe on with your dates in mind.

Call between 10am and 7pm and ask to speak to a kitchen manager.
Explain that you are out of town and want to book an event in the
events book. They will check your dates and tell you what is available.
Things to bear in mind:
- have a good name for your event
- leave contact details (mobile phone number is best)
- describe your event so it sounds great (one sentence - it may go on our posters)
- what time does it start and end?
Often the kitchen managers are very busy, so they may ask you to phone back.
We have decks and video/dvd player and projector/beamer. And upright (almost in tune) piano.
To help your event be a success, it is a good idea to do your own
advertising. Make flyers and posters, distribute them around
cafes/bars/record shops/clubs etc. Tell your friends, put a poster on
our front window boards (do not attach to the actual windows).
Advertise your night in the List/Metro/Scotsman.
More tips:
- make sure you know in advance what equipment you will need
- remember to come early so you have time to get things ready
- always use the events book - read the instructions on the cover!
- if your event is loud, please make sure it finishes early (11pm)
Film Submissions
We will show all short films we recieve. Short film showings are often
spontaneous, but once in a while, we have the shortest night which is a
whole evening dedicated to these tiny flicks.
Bring in or
post us your short films, all submissions must be DVD [or dataCD] and
clearly labelled, please don't give us your only copy as things get
lost the whole time!
