Why work for free??

Because the Forest does COOL stuff like:

  • Free Workshops - and any event you or your friends wish to have
  • Free Broadband Internet Access
  • Free Sewing Machine - just in case
  • Ride Share And Notice Board - find what you might have been looking for
  • Multi Media Facilities - Super8, 16mm, video and computer projection available
  • Free Shop - change something old into something new
  • Biz'Art Shop: Sell your crafts or buy cool local stuff; get a Haircut (plus Vodka) or a Massage
  • Grants - up to £100 for worthy projects - just submit a proposal
  • Decks! Cos we do like to party...

We work for free so we can play for free

The Forest currently supports itself entirely from the profits of the cafe. The Forest is not commercially motivated. This allows us to experiment with projects which may not be possible for normal. It is a great sociable environment and an opportunity to exchange ideas/plans for all the various aspects of the project, and ensures the fundraising responsibility is split fairly.

If you are interested in volunteering either email us: v o l u n t e e r i n g @ t h e f o r e s t . o r g . u k, come to the Forest and ask in the kitchen for a Volunteer Application Form, get onto our web forum, the bb, or come along to a working group meeting.

Please come to our fortnightly Volunteer Induction Days! We will do a tour through the Forest, explain what the Forest is and how we work and we will tell all you need to know about the different ways of volunteering (plus some legally required health and safety stuff). The next dates are 8 November / 22 November / 6 December / 20 December.
